Product Review
This
latest offering from the duo Trout Fishing in America is a
hip, silly, and touching family recording that is unlike any
other Christmas album. Featuring a range of musical styles
(folk/country/jazz/rock) all high quality and some of
the most clever lyrics around, Merry Fishes to All is
a must-own recording that the entire family will enjoy.
The
music is rich, and the lyrics are alternately silly and
sweet. The recording includes a lament that Santa brought
clothes instead of toys ("Even packed in pretty packages/they're still
clothes"); Santa referred to as a "roly poly role model"; a dream
of a chocolate-covered Christmas; a jazzy number called
"Snow is Falling"; and a hilarious
"conversation" between a boy who rattles off all
the cool toys he got for Christmas and another who simply
got a cheese log.
It is
difficult to convey just how clever and rich this recording
is in wordsit needs to be heard. Kids will be tickled,
and parents delighted. Merry Fishes to All will
infuse the holidays with silliness and warmth.
Dollar Value
The audio CD retails for approximately $15 US.
The Bottom Line
As unique as it is entertaining, this recording
offers witty, insightful, and fun Christmas music that
speaks to both children and adults. Merry Fishes to All is outstanding!
