There are 19 tracks altogether on this innovative CD designed to inspire creative
movement in children. The first 10 tracks are vocal instructions set to the
music of Mozart, and the final 9 tracks are instrumentals.
Although the directions in the songs are quite straightforward, the CD comes
with suggested activities and instructions for each track. Track 1 is entitled
Moving to Mozart (Warm-Up) and the lyrics direct the activities with
Eine Kleine Nachtmusik K.525 - Allegro as the featured track. Caregivers and
parents are instructed to allow children to interpret the movements as they
please (let them "feel" the music). Lyrics include such lines as "Let
the music move you, feel the melody tickle your toes, wiggle them around, then
see where it goes.". In the second track, Mirror Moves, kids grab
partners and "mirror" their friend's actions. I Have a Little Scarf
helps to inspire kids' imaginations their scarf (or ribbon, etc.) becomes
a flag, a carousel, a veil, and even a tree!
Another activity focuses on gross-motor skills as kids jump and skip to the
music and instructions. Children tap their fingers in different ways in an activity
designed to increase fine-motor skills, and counting up to 20 is the focus of
the 10th track.
Tracks 11 through 19 (all of which have suggested activities) are instrumentals
and are perfectly suited as background music during art activities, quiet time,
or play.
