In the last decade or so, research has proven the astounding effects classical
music can have on our minds. Not only that, in the first years of human life,
the brain is essentially being "wired" and shaped by its environment.
A stimulating environment one that is rich with emotion, music, language,
etc. has a long-lasting and at least semi-permanent impact on a person's
entire life.
Don Campbell authored a definitive book entitled The Mozart Effect,
and this title has become somewhat of a catch-phrase to describe the power of
music in our lives. Campbell's book helps to correlate the music of Mozart with
an increased ability to learn, and improved health of body and spirit. Though
there have since been a number of attempts to disprove the theories behind the
Mozart Effect, few will deny that classical music sets a distinctive mood, helps
to inspire, and has powerful even transforming effects on its
listeners.
The music of Mozart can be described as highly organized, very inspiring,
and yet not as intense or emotional as the works of many other classical composers.
Often described as an eternal child himself, Mozart's works more often than
not embody a childlike playfulness and delight.
Music for Babies is a specially arranged collection for babies and
toddlers. There are three distinct dimensions to this title:
- Track 1: Music for Playtime whether baby is actively playing on his/her
own, or interacting with caregivers, this track provides wonderful background
music that helps define and underscore these important times in baby's life.
This track includes 4 stimulating and playful pieces.
- Track 2: Transitions "in-between" music is featured on
this track, helping baby to wind down. Two pieces that are relaxing but not
quite lulling are included, and are ideal for snuggle time.
- Track 3: Music for Sleepytime a gradually lulling track gently assists
baby to enter into sleepytime. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star that was
featured on the first track is now a slower, soothing version. Two other pieces
are wonderful lullabies.
Music can help define a mood or provide a cue for certain times of day. Any parent
will appreciate a routine that helps their baby or toddler fall asleep, and the
third track of the CD can help do just that! In a market filled with trendy newborn
audio recordings, this one stands out as a well-organized arrangement. However,
some of the arrangements are actually the works of Mozart's father, Leopold, which
might disappoint more discriminating listeners.
Runs for approximately 47 minutes.
