Review
This charming CD is a musical story that has the main
character, Rachel, making a very exciting discovery that she has a princess
living inside herself because, after all, every girl has one. Princess Bean is
her name, and she lives in her own storybook on a library shelf, but can jump
into any book she pleases! When she does just that, she has some rather fantastic
experiences and through her adventures she makes very meaningful discoveries about
self-esteem, peer pressure, taking risks, and learning from mistakes.
Princess Bean doesn't fit into the conventional princess mold and must contend
with some rather jealous, more stereotypical princesses, including Sleeping
Beauty and Cinderella. Her foibles and triumphs help kids realize that being
a hero (or heroine) is not only about "saving the day", but involves
having the courage to learn from mistakes, to believe in yourself, and to follow
what's in your heart.
Princess Bean's Messy World features rock & roll style music as well as some
jazz to tell the touching and humorous story of this unlikely princess. This
title is the first in a planned series of audio and video stories.
Dollar Value
This audio CD runs for 49 minutes, and retails for $15
US, and the cassette is $10 US.
The Bottom Line
